Would someone care to enlighten me as to what exactly a 'mayan' is? See, according to our family tradition there are 3 main functions to a wedding: mehndi, shadi & valima. So I'm not too sure as to what exactly a mayan is meant to be. I have been to one before, in Pakistan about 3 years ago, which was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion. A length dars (islamic talk) in urdu was followed by a BBQ (with the best aloo bukhaara chutney I've EVER had!) and then the gathering of the women around a dholak singing songs late into the night. Hey, it was fun :)

BUT I still don't reeeeeeeeeeeeally know what a mayan is as I've heard many variations of this occasion.

Perhaps if my head wasn't throbbing to no end, if my brain didn't feel like jelly, if my neck and upper back weren't all bruised, I would be finding out now. Khair, I shall not miss the mehndi tomorrow, there is absolutely NO WAY I'm going to miss out on anything to do with henna!!! InshaAllah!!!
