Hajj Again
A lunar year passes,
From the comfort of my home,
I sit,
I watch with teary eyes.
My heart aches, it longs,
To be amongst those,
Fortunate pilgrims,
Who pray.
Clothed in white,
All dressed the same,
Grouped together,
They recite labayk.
Moving in masses,
Patiently they pass,
Amongst waves,
Of human strength.
Hoping for mercy,
Hands raised high,
Praying to catch,
Just a drop of forgiveness,
A drop of mercy,
For their ultimate fate.
Yes Hajj approaches again,
A lunar year has passed.
Sacrifices offered,
And savaiyyan cooked.
Yet I wait for that 9th Dhul Hijjah,
Which will be spent,
Away from my home,
To be,
Alone,
With my Lord.
